Had my 1 hour glucose tolerance test today

well, now I am 24 weeks, B"H,and today I took my one hour glucose tolerance test. I also had to give a urine sample, and she also took blood for my TSH levels (thyroid). I am worried about the results of the glucose screening test because with #4 , my test came back a few points over normal, but not enough that I needed to go for the 3 hour test or test my blood sugar daily. Hopefully this time the numbers will be normal.

I also took #4 back to the pediatrician about the yeast rash. He gave me a stronger cream to use in addition to the other cream. Hopefully this will do the trick and clear it up. Poor girl must be so uncomfortable..it looks like its very uncomfortable. I think the rash got worse from the second round of antibiotics she was on for the ear infection. Her ears are ok now B"H.

Not much else doing today. I am buying #2's dresses off of ebay. Fun and I save money :)

Will post more later :)

24 week OB appointment

I had my 24 week OB appointment today. I gained 1 1/2 lbs bringing it to a total of 12 1/2 lbs so far this pregnancy, which is pretty good being I am 6 months pregnant. I am going to take my glucose tolerance test next week for gestational diabetes screening, and the OB wants to check my TSH levels again to see if my thyroid is behaving or acting up again. 16 weeks to go G-d willing till my due date. Scary... :)

Not much else is doing. I feel pretty tired and worn out now, so I am not going to make this post much longer. sorry. :) will post more later..

Things that go flush...

My 2 year old flushed his cars down the toilet before I could stop him, after #1 had used the potty. I tried the plunger to no avail, and then put in a work order. The maintenance man drained it, snaked it, managed to get out one car very deep inside, but he said he felt more cars in there that he couldn't get to. Being its our fault, we have to call the plumber and arrange and pay for it to be fixed. Luckily, that bathroom is in the basement, and is not used much. The plumber is probably going to cost me a few hundred. Hundreds of dollars for one little dollar store toy car. Boy, that is one expensive car. :) the maintenance man said its clogged deep in the pipe (or something along those lines.. I wasn't sure exactly what he was saying.)

In other news, 3 of the 4 kids are sick. #4 has another ear infection in the same ear as before and is back on the amoxicillin (which probably means now the diaper yeast rash that was going away is probably going to come back from the antibiotics :(, kid #3 threw up a few times the other night and is still not 100 percent, and last night #2 threw up. I should mention that #3 threw up all over me and my bed...even though I washed everything thoroughly I still managed to catch the virus. My stomach hurts and I do feel a bit queasy but not to the point where I feel I have to puke. That will probably happen tomorrow when I smell the cholent :) BTW apple juice and pop corn are not good foods to eat when queasy, which I learned by stupidity just before :P. I am slightly concerned about the repeat ear infection. I hope we are not headed for ear tubes, like with #3 who had about 10 ear infections back to back before they put in tubes. If she gets one more ear infection after she finishes the second round of meds I am going to bring her in to the peditrician. #3 had tons of ear infections and moderate hearing loss from fluid when he was this age and had to have ear tubes put in both ears and fluid drained. He gets tested regularly and B"H his hearing is back to normal and tubes are still in over 1 year later.

this upcoming week #2 is off of school for winter break. I am taking her to get her hair cut Monday. I am not sure if I mentioned it earlier but she cut her own hair in school last week. The class was doing arts and crafts and my daughter wanted to try her hand at being a beautician I guess. :) The teacher was worried I would be very upset, but I am not really. these things happen. I think I did the same thing when I was her age. I remember cutting off my younger sister's pony tail :).

I also have my 24 week ob appointment Thursday. (I will be almost 24 weeks by then.).

1 year check up and other stuff

#4 had her 1 year check up today. she had a diaper rash from yeast infection from the antbiotics she was on from her ear infection, also eczema on her leg. she gained 2 lbs and had her mmr and menjugate. But now she is running a fever from the menjugate. I don't have to bring her back till 15 months for her prevnar and chicken pox vaccine and well baby check up.

Yesterday we went on a tour of #1's future (Please G-d) school. There is a slight problem though. there may not be a grade one on sept if they don't have enough kids to make a grade 1. including my son, they only have 3 kids so far for grade one and they need at least 5 to have a class. I am supposed to call them next month to see whats doing. I did register him though and paid the deposit fee. I will have to daven really hard that 2 more kids will enroll by Pesach time.

Today #1 had to go home early from school from a tummy bug and I will have to keep him home tomorrow because he is still having the runs. I will have to bring him with me to my doc's appt for the retest of strep throat. I hope he behaves himself there. We had freezing rain this aftenoon and the side walks were ice today. I had to have my mother in law pick up #1 while I picked up #2 (the school called me to pick him up an hour before dismissal and said I had to pick him up NOW even though #2 was getting out at that time and I was unable to for at least a half hour, and they know I don't have a car and am walking there pushing a triple stroller, and the sidewalks were ice, and I am 22 weeks pregnant..) I am lucky I was able to have my mother in law pick him up as my father in law was about to leave for work shortly. Its bashert that he went home sick, as the sidewalks were a sheet of ice and I would have never made it there in one piece. The last time I fell while pregnant (with #3) I ended up on bed rest with a placental abruption. I barely made it home from picking up #2 without falling and had a couple of close scares.

and some good news! :) I won a contest! Yay! :) I won a roots 3 piece leather luggage set from a canada post contest. :) I am very excited. :)

That's it for now. Will post more later. its bath time for the kids now.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve

Today was #1's appointment with the pediatric cardiologist. #1 had an ekg and an echocardiogram done by the doc, and right away saw the problem. He has something wrong with his aortic valve, something called Bicuspid aortic valve. Hubby's father, and uncle have it, and his uncle had to have the valve replaced just last year. The doctor said it can be potentially very serious, but right now we are not at that stage with #1. He just has to come back in 1 year to have it checked. Also when he goes to the dentist, he has to have a big dose of antibiotics to prevent subacute endocarditis (infection in the lining of his heart). It feels weird to know now he has this heart condition, and I am a bit upset and worried about it but feel relieved at the same time that right now everything is ok with him and it won't impact his life or daily activities at this point. Hubby's dad just has it monitored. Hubby's uncle had surgery to replace the valve and is ok B"H.

I have to say I am a bit offended by the pediatric cardiologists rant on Americans. It was totally unprofessional. He had asked if that was my mother with my other kids in the waiting room, and I had said no, its my mother in law, my mother lives in Florida and the rest of my family is in NJ, that I am American. and recently became a canadian citizen and he went on a 10 minute rant about how much he dislikes americans, that we are all ignorant, and that we think everything revolves around the US. I was pretty upset and had no clue how to respond back. Part of me just wanted to walk out of his office right then and there. I told him I was offended and I hoped he was joking, and he said he wasn't but he wouldn't let it get in the way of his professional duties. If he wasn't a top notch pediatric cardiologist I would have walked out. that was totally rude of him.

Anyway, on a brighter note, #1 is going to his first birthday party this sunday. :) yay :) Also spoke to his head teacher and she thinks its wonderful about him going to the new school and she also feels he would be good there. So :P to the assistant teacher who wasn't happy about it :P :)

that's it for now. I am cooking lasagna, it took me 2 hours to get it together because we got back from the cardiologist late, and my kids went beserk when we got home, one wanted a snack, one wanted to have a veggie burger sandwich instead of snack, one was just kvetchy because it was bottle time, and one was just imitating his siblings. Sigh. After 2 hours of interruptions dinner is finally in the oven.

Wonderful news about son #1 :) !!!!!!!!! :)

I am so excited! I just spoke to the social worker from the Jewish Day school for ADHD/Asperger kids that I want to send my son to in September. She said, the team there read over his psychoeducational assessment, and that he would be a perfect candidate to go there. She invited my husband and me to go on a tour on Monday as well as fill out the intake form. She also said somone from the school will go down to the school where my son is currently enrolled and observe him, and that in June, he will be invited in to see where he will be going G-d willing. I am a tad worried though because every time I have tried to send him some where else, the school he is at now has sabotoged it. I am making it clear to them this week that no matter what they say to the school I am hoping to send him to, he will NOT be returning back to his current school next year. Also worried because he still has potty training issuses, but he will be trained totally by Sept. G-d willing. I am worried his teacher will mention that fact. I am going to speak to her about it and have them work much harder than they are now. I am thinking about just stopping the pull ups completely, see how it goes just in big boy underwear. Hopefully, they will accept him at the school we want him to go to. Applying doesn't guarantee 100 percent he will get in and I am worried the school he is at now will ruin it for me just like they did the other 2 times I have tried to enroll him elsewhere. I will just tell them, if they do that, then he will just go to public school, and he still won't be going back there. To tell you the truth, I absoultely hate the school he is going to right now. They have a lot of shtick there. So, I am going to daven really hard that the application proccess will be successful and his current school won't ruin it for him yet again. I am just thrilled that they will consider him to begin with!! :) Yay :)

She's 1 today!!!!!

baby #4 turned one today!! Well, officially, she will be 1 around 9:12 pm tonight. :) If you look on Only Simchas you may be able to take a peek at some pictures but I don't think I have added new pics in a while.

In other news, I am feeling much better today, except for a sinus tachycardia thats been bugging me today. but at least my throat doesn't hurt, B"H.

Today my OB's office called to say the ultrasound results are normal B"H, and the radiologist was able to detect a gender after all. The baby is a ____ according to ultrasound :) I am going to leave you hanging. :) You only have 19 weeks left to find out. :) Also, of course, nothing is 100 percent certain..the pictures could be wrong too. but I have a feeling the gender is what the secretary told me. :)

Not much else is doing today. Wednesday is #1's cardiologist appointment to follow up on a mild heart murmur the pediatrician detected. Will post more later G-d willing.

Strep again :(

sorry I haven't posted this week but I have been really sick again :( Wednesday I started having aches and sore throat. Thursday I felt worse. Friday I could barely swallow. I called a doctor that makes housecalls. He took a culture, examined me, and told me my glands were pretty swollen and my throat was bad, and left me a prescription for my third round of penicillin this time for 10 days. He just called me motzei shabbos to let me know the culture is indeed positive. So I do have a relapse of strep. This sucks. I was talking to my doula about it and she told me I might run the risk of testing positive for group b strep because even though its different ends of the body its the same body. I have been sick now for almost 6 weeks. My immune system must be shot or something. I am very frustrated. I really wanted to enjoy this pregnancy and now its half over and all I have felt is sick. :( At least the baby kicking makes me feel slightly better. I hope I do not relapse again when I finish the antibiotics.

What else is doing..well both #1 and 3 wooke up friday morning to pink eye, so the doc that made housecalls also prescribed eye drops for them to get rid of infection. and this past Wedneday, #4 had an ear infection. Its been a real fun week.

hopefully I will feel much better soon. Tomorrow I am taking #1 and #3 to the pediatrician (he has sunday sick clinic hours) because I am wondering if they need antibiotics too. #1 has bad cough and #3 has green nasal discharge now.

WIll post more later, when I feel less cranky and crappy. :)

A Haircut Disaster

Whoops. An important lesson learned: Never, ever, ever, try to cut your daughter's bangs if you are not a hair stylist or have never cut hair before. I don't know why I thought I could do a straight job on them. They look so crooked now :( ! I was trying to grow out her bangs, originally, and they were into her eyes now , but she won't wear a hair clip and I didn't have a chance yet to buy some hairbands, and I was thinking, how can I send her to school tomorrow with her hair in her eyes like that? How hard could it possibly be to cut bangs, just go straight across? So I started cutting them, and at first it was straight and looked great, but then she moved her head to the side and I ended up cutting on an angle. :( so when I tried to fix it, she moved her head again. Arg! Now she has horribly crooked bangs. Actually, they are not THAT bad, but they look bad enough that I am embarrassed. :) I am going to have to take her to a hair salon tomorrow after school to have her bangs fixed. She always sits nicely for the sylist, so I figured she would sit still for me too and I would just trim the bangs, and be done with it in a minute. I wish I could get her bangs fixed before school but nothing is open at 8:30 in the morning. They should have an emergency hair clinic for people who try to cut their own hair or hair of their loved ones. :) Maybe I should lend her my sheitl :) Just kidding. I am never attempting to cut anyone's hair ever again. I guess its a good thing I didn't wash and style my own sheitl for the wedding I am going to in 2 weeks. :)

Not much else doing at this moment. I am cooking some sobeys store brand biscuits. But I am not hungry because I just had a huge cup of hot cocoa. I have to stop with the chocolate or I will be huge and the baby will weigh 10 lbs LOL. Not so much of a joke because the heaviest of my kids weight 8 Lb 12 oz (that would be #2.)
